    (April 30, 1662-December 28, 1694)
    Born in London, United Kingdom
    Daughter of James II
    Wife of King William III
    Sister of Queen Anne
Ruled England jointly with her husband (1689-94)
    She married her first cousin.
She wept inconsolably on first seeing William.
    She helped overthrow her father.
She feuded with her sister over Anne’s friendship with a disgraced politician, eventually cutting off all contact.
She had her uncle arrested for plotting to restore James II to the throne.
Before her marriage, she wrote passionate letters to the daughter of the royal hawk keeper, signing them ‘Your husband.’
She governed England on her own while her husband was on military campaigns.
She endowed the College of William and Mary in Virginia.
William grew increasingly reliant on her, and at her death said he was ‘now going to be the miserablest creature on earth.’
The march that Henry Purcell composed for her funeral became the title theme for ‘A Clockwork Orange.’
