The Resume

    (June 4, 1919-November 1, 2011)
    Born in Chicago, Illinois
    Born Dorothy Emma Howell
Former housekeeper, typist, and cook; later homemaker
Mother of Hillary Clinton (b. 1947) and Hugh Rodham Jr. (b. 1950)
    Married Hugh Rodham, in 1942
Mother-in-Law to President Bill Clinton; Grandmother to Chelsea Clinton
Accompanied Hillary and Chelsea on official trips to France, India, and China, during her time as First Lady
Died at George Washington University Hospital, in Washington, D.C. (Nov. 1, 2011)

Why she might be annoying:

She admitted her daughter had a terrible singing voice.
Her life struggles as a girl tend to get co-opted by her daughter as a means of arguing that she 'can relate to the working class.'
She claimed that her grandmother confined her to her bedroom for one year, save for attending school, after she caught her trick-or-treating.
Hillary liked to tell a story about her childhood in which she ran home in tears complaining that she had been bullied by a girl named Suzy.
As Hillary tells it, Dorothy then said 'If Suzy hits you, then you have my permission to hit her back.' Hillary bloodied Suzy's nose.
She was reportedly pissed enough at the President over the Lewinsky scandal that she encouraged her daughter to seek her own political career.
She was seen wiping away a tear during her daughter's concession speech during the 2008 Democratic Presidential nomination.

Why she might not be annoying:

She grew up in a crowded tenement with a pair of dysfunctional parents.
Her family problems got to be so strained that she was sent unsupervised with her sister on a train to live with her strict grandparents.
She left home, six years later, and supported herself at the height of the Great Depression.
She took college classes in the early 70's at Oakton Community College, eventually earning an associate's degree in liberal arts.
She taped a video message for the 1996 Democratic Convention, in which she told the audience 'Everybody knows there is only one person in the world who can really tell the truth about a man, and that's his mother-in-law!'
She figured prominently into speeches and ads for Hillary Clinton's 2016 Presidential run (even though they yanked the tribute they were going to show at the Convention).
Her daughter wrote in her first autobiography, 'no one had a bigger influence on my life or did more to shape the person I became.'
Her harsh life experience reportedly inspired Hillary to prioritize children's welfare and health during her time as Arkansas First Lady, and later during her time in the White House and Senate.
Her daughter became the first female Presidential nominee for a major party ticket.
