    Birth name is Pieter Cornelis Mondriaan
    Created over 200 abstract geometric paintings, and his most famous painting, 'Broadway Boogie-Woogie'
    In 1912, he moved to Paris and changed his name, dropping an 'a' from Mondriaan to make it more 'artsy.'
    Some of his best-known works are composed of simple dots, line and squares.
    He is considered the father of advertising design.
    He began his career as a teacher in primary education.
    In September 1938, he left Paris in the face of advancing fascism and moved to London.
    After the Netherlands were invaded and Paris fell in 1940, he left London for New York City.
    He started by painting naturalistic art, then moving onto cubism, then to geometric art.
    His later work was influenced by Pablo Picasso and Georges Braque.
    His art was always intimately related to his spiritual and philosophical studies.
    He died in New York City of pneumonia at the age of 71.
