Screenwriter

The Resume

    Albert Maurice Hackett (1900 - 1995)
    Frances Goodrich (1890 - 1984)
Won a Tony for Best Play for 'Diary of Anne Frank' (1956)
Won the Pulitzer Prize for Drama for 'Diary of Anne Frank' (1956)
Wrote the Broadway plays 'Up Pops the Devil' (1931) and 'Mr. and Mrs. North' (1941)
Wrote the screenplays for 'It's a Wonderful Life,' 'Seven Brides for Seven Brothers,' 'The Thin Man,' 'Father of the Bride,' and 'Five Finger Excercise'

Why they might be annoying:

Albert was Frances' third husband within a decade.
They were friends with liberal hypocrite Lillian Hellman.
They reduced the number of references to Judaism in their treatment for the Diary of Anne Frank to make it more 'universal.'
They were accused off plagiarizing their adaptation of the Anne Frank story from Meyer Levin, who sued them and - presumptuously - Otto Frank - for damages (the suit was settled out of court in 1959).
They were investigated by the FBI for propagating 'Communist messages' in It's a Wonderful Life's screenplay.

Why they might not be annoying:

They were married for over forty years.
They received four Oscar nominations, twice for their work on the 'Thin Man' films.
They won five Writers Guild Awards, the last for their work on the screen version of 'Diary of Anne Frank.'
They modeled the dialogue between Nick and Nora Charles on their own, which broke ground by showing a realistic, modern relationship between a man and a woman.
They were known for slipping sex jokes past the pre-code censors in their comedic dialogue ('They say you were shot in the tabloids?' 'They never got near my tabloids!')
They were one of the most successful screenwriting partnerships in Hollywood history, with over thirty screenplays to their credit as a husband-and-wife team until their retirement in 1962.
