    (April 25, 1958- )
    Born in Montreal, Quebec, Canada
CDs include ‘Luba (EP),’ ‘Secrets & Sins,’ ‘Between the Earth & Sky,’ and ‘All or Nothing’
Singles include ‘Every Time I See Your Picture I Cry,’ ‘Let It Go,’ ‘Storm Before the Calm,’ ‘How Many (Rivers to Cross),’ ‘Innocent (with an Explanation),’ ‘Act of Mercy,’ ‘When a Man Loves a Woman,’ ‘Giving Away a Miracle,’ and ‘Little Salvation’
1985–1987 Juno Award winner (Female Vocalist of the Year)
Halftime performer at the 1991 Grey Cup
Her full first name? ‘Lubomira’ — also the name of one of her early albums, in Ukrainian characters.
During the ‘Between the Earth & Sky’ tour, her tour bus was involved in a collision that nearly claimed most of her backing band’s lives (she wasn't on board).
A huge success in the 1980s (within Canada, never stateside), she was hit with a streak of personal setbacks — dropped by her label, divorced her manager, grandmother and mother dead, and her sister developing MS. She would not return for a decade.
‘You know, I was watching a documentary film about Canadian artists from the 1980s, especially those having to do with [music] videos, and they didn’t even mention me!’
    She relocated to Anguilla.
‘Picture,’ which would become her signature song – but not her top-seller – was written in memory of her father.
In the wake of her rising star, she favored the fashion style of Stevie Nicks over that of Samantha Fox.
She contributed at least four songs, including two duets, to the Raccoons series (CBC).
She built her own independent label, on which she released ‘From the Bitter to the Sweet’ in 2000.
Bryan Adams – the number-one Canadian act in her day – is a fan.
Only two artists have more Female Vocalist of the Year honors.
She was a trailblazer for a wave of Canadian female vocalists.
