    The first public reading of the U.S. Declaration of Independence took place at its town hall (July 14, 1776).
    It hosted the first national women's rights convention (October 23-24, 1850).
    Lee Richmond recorded the very first Major League perfect game at the Worcester Agricultural Fairgrounds (June 12, 1880).
    The Worcester Country Club hosted the first Ryder Cup, the 1925 U.S. Open and the 1960 U.S. Women's Open.
    It is home to nine colleges.
    It has dozens of Victorian-era buildings.
