    Casual fans refer to Immortals as 'Highlanders.' Highlanders are actually people native to the Scottish Highlands, thus blurring fantasy with history.

    'There can be only one' got old fast.

    The series is considered by many to be superior to the line of movies.

    Regular characters got killed fairly often helping to add suspense.

    Immortals can only be permanently killed by beheading.
    They can sense the presence of another Immortal.
    The victor receives the loser's 'Quickening,' a discharge of energy.
    The last Immortal left alive will be given godlike power called 'The Prize.'
    After their first death, they stop aging.
    They cannot have children.
    They cannot kill on any holy ground.
