    He is not very fluent in the Kyrgyz language, which resulted in loss of marks when he took a language test so that he could be reelected (2000).
    He gradually ended up becoming a dictator, just like the other countries in Central Asia.
    His son Aidar and his daughter Bermet won seats in Parliament.
    Some of his cabinet members were students and friends from the Frunze Polytechnic Institute, where he taught, arousing allegations of nepotism and cronyism.
    His victory in two elections was suspected of ballot rigging (December 24, 1995, October 29, 2000).
    He was accused of leading a corrupt administration and suppressing opposition parties and media.
    Compared to the leaders of other former Soviet Central Asian countries, he was more liberal.
    Other than science, his interests include classical music and painting.
    He favors and encouraged privatization of land and businesses.
    He was a physicist.
    His strong interests in science has earned him awards for his brightness.
