Because Tanith's citizenship won't be final until the summer of 2007, they were ineligible to compete in the 2002 Winter Olympics.
They participate in a skating discipline that is rife with corruption and fixed competitions.
They are relentlessly perky.
Ben has large ears.
Like most skaters, some of their costumes are more than a little flamboyant; they wore a polka-dot motif in the 2004 season.

Why they might not be annoying:

Tanith is considered to be one of the most beautiful women in competitive skating.
They are the first US ice dance couple to medal at the World Championships in over twenty years.
They are the first US ice dancing couple with the ability to challenge the Russians.
Their fan base is world wide.
Many influential people, including their congressman, are working to help get Tanith's citizenship in time for the Winter Olympics.
Tanith became an American citizen (December 31, 2005).
