Why they might be annoying
They have a New York complex.
It is more important to them that their team finishes better than the New York Jets rather than winning a Super Bowl.
After the Super Bowl XXXVI victory, 1,000 fans infested the streets near Fenway Park and shouted anti-New York Yankee slogans.
Others refer to them as a bunch of drunks.
They speak with that awful New England slur.
Why they might not be annoying
They are the biggest proponents of the NFL 'QB Tuck Rule.' This rule led the Patriots to a 2002 playoff victory over the Oakland Raiders when an apparent QB Tom Brady fumble was reversed based on the tuck rule. The Patriots went on to win Super Bowl XXXVI that season.
More than 1 million fans showed up on a freezing cold afternoon (single digit wind chill) to celebrate their first Super Bowl victory.
They fought real hard to keep the team from moving to Hartford, CT in the late 1990's.
To attract more fans, they changed their name from the Boston Patriots to the regional name, New England Patriots.
