Asked by Trump, ‘Are you still a believer in Santa? Because at seven, it’s marginal, right?’
Her response to both questions: ‘Yes, sir’
Why she might be annoying
Her name looks like it was written in ‘last name, first name’ order.
Several of the earliest media stories about the phone call misspelled her first name as ‘Coleman.’
She said she had never heard the word ‘marginal’ before Trump’s question and had no idea what it meant. (‘He used it with ‘Santa,’ so maybe it has something to do with Christmas?’)
Her father said the President’s use of ‘marginal’ was ‘a tad awkward’ and noted, ‘I’m not sure exactly what he meant by it.’
She never learned where Santa was during the phone call. (‘But we got on an app and we found out he was over Nepal.’)
Why she might not be annoying
Her response drew a chuckle and a smile from Trump.
Her faith in Santa remained unshaken by the President’s questioning.
Her mother said that talking to the President ‘made her Christmas.’
Her parents complained that commentators who suggested that Trump’s questions could have ‘ruined Christmas’ for their daughter were blowing the incident out of proportion and unfairly politicizing it.
In the category of ‘people thrust into the limelight by an encounter with Donald Trump,’ she comes off as way more mature than, say, Omorosa.
