    (May 28, 1931-May 18, 2014)
    Born in Queens, New York
Worked on films such as 'The Godfather (1972),' 'The Godfather Part II (1974),' 'Annie Hall (1977),' 'Manhattan (1979),' and 'The Godfather Part III (1990)'
Co-recipient of the Honorary Academy Award (2010)
Favoritism toward Francis Ford Coppola and Woody Allen was evident by the fact that he did The Godfather trilogy and two Diane Keaton films.
He was nominated twice for an Oscar, but lost in both instances.
He talked with a thick New York nasal accent.
Colleague Stephen Pizzello said of Willis, 'He has a somewhat legendary reputation for crankiness.'
He used a lighting technique of using shadows, and often didn't allow a character's eyes to be seen clearly.
As a result, he earned the nickname, 'The Prince of Darkness.'
Seven of the films he worked on received a total of 19 Oscars from 39 nominations.
He said, 'The lack of perfection, that's the hardest quality of all, because you're fighting your instincts. You're trained to want to do things perfectly.'
He received an Honorary Oscar alongside actress Lauren Bacall and filmmaker Roger Corman.
