Why she might be annoying:

She was married and divorced three times, including marriages to FDR's son Elliott Roosevelt and bandleader Skitch Henderson.
During her marriage with Roosevelt, she slit her wrists. (The Roosevelt family publicly claimed it was an accident.)
During WWII, GIs were reportedly bumped from a military flight to make room for her and her dog.
She had live TV's first wardrobe malfunction when she popped out of her low-cut gown.
There was a false rumor that the Emmy Award was named after her. (The name was actually derived from the image orthicon tube used in early TV cameras.)

Why she might not be annoying:

She had a close relationship with mother-in-law Eleanor Roosevelt even after divorcing Elliott.
She has two stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, for movies and TV.
She was known as 'the First Lady of Television' and 'the Best-Dressed Woman on TV.'
She displayed enough brains in her game show appearances to inspire quips like, 'It isn't every day that you see a high IQ in a low-cut gown.'
Critic John Crosby wrote, 'The Faye Emerson Show, I assume, is aimed primarily at women, but I know men, including this one, who are helplessly fascinated by it for reasons which never occurred to CBS.'
