The Resume

    (September 21, 1939-September 28, 1972)
Born in Liverpool, England, United Kingdom
    Birth name was Alan Caldwell
Led the band Rory Storm and the Hurricanes
Recorded the singles 'Dr. Feelgood' (1963) and 'America' (1964)
Died at 33 of an accidental overdose of sleeping pills

Why he might be annoying:

He is remembered mainly as a footnote to Beatles history, since Ringo Starr was the Hurricanes' drummer before joining the Fab Four.
Before settling on 'Rory Storm,' he used Al and Jett as first names.
He had such a bad stutter, friends would never let him order drinks because it took too long.
He occasionally brought a pet monkey on stage to garner more attention.
During a performance at the Kaiserkeller in Hamburg, he broke through the stage when he jumped off a piano.
During a show at Birkenhead, he broke his leg when he slipped and fell while climbing up one of the columns supporting the balcony.
He was arrested for writing 'I Love Rory' on the walls of a raliroad station.

Why he might not be annoying:

Brian Epstein called him 'one of the liveliest and most likeable young men on the scene.'
He was interested in sports and served as captain of 'Mersey Beat' magazine's soccer team.
After concerts in Liverpool, he preferred to jog home instead of being driven.
Ringo Starr frequently offered to arrange for him to record anytime he wanted to.
His sister said, 'He was happy to be the King of Liverpool, he was never keen on touring.... and he'd never miss a Liverpool football match.
He inspired the film 'That'll Be The Day' (1973) and a musical, 'A Need For Heroes' (1987).
