Why she might be annoying:

Her Paramount contract stipulated that she would not have to cut her hair, pose for leg art, or perform in bit parts.
Rumors persisted that she was forbidden by her father to engage in any kissing scenes in her films.
The rumor eventually proved to be false, although it remained conspicuous that her leading roles rarely ever involved kissing the leading man.
Her career as a leading lady fizzled out by the late-1930s, relegating her to either secondary leads or star roles in poverty row B-movies.

Why she might not be annoying:

She was the original model for the torch-bearing Columbia Pictures logo.
She was the live action model for the Blue Fairy's character design, in addition to her voice work.
She was discovered performing Shakespeare in Los Angeles, but turned down multiple film contracts before finally accepting.
She received critical acclaim for her performance in 'Death Takes a Holiday,' as a young woman whom Death (Fredric March) falls in love with.
She met cinematographer Hal Mohr on the set of a Will Rogers movie they were filming and they married months later (they stayed together for forty years).
She retired from acting so that she could spend more time with her family.
She pursued a Masters at UCLA after retiring, and later became faculty teaching Latin at the University.
