    Birth name was Morton Donald Isaacson
    Best known as the host of 'The Don Lane Show' on the Nine Network in Australia (1975-1983)
    NFL sportscaster on the ABC Network (1991-1996)
    He was ejected from a Logies ceremony for punching TV rival Ernie Sigley after words between the two of them.
    He was arrested for importing marijuana, but claimed a former business partner wanting revenge planted it in his jacket.
    He was more famous in Australia than back in the United States
    His show regularly featured psychics like Uri Geller and Doris Stokes as guests.
    He invited skeptic James Randi (famed for exposing Geller as a fraud) on to his show (1981).
    After Randi criticized Geller, he engaged in heated exchange of words with Randi; the interview ended with Lane saying 'We are going to a commercial break' and then said to Randi 'You can piss off!' before walking off the show.
    He was divorced.
    He was a great singer.
    He served in the US Army as an officer, and after he left, he returned to entertain troops for several years.
    In the early 80’s, he was Australia’s most highly paid performer.
    The Don Lane show was a huge ratings hit and earned him over 15 Logie Awards.
    He did a number of memorable interviews, including a bizarre one with Tom Waits on his show.
    He was friends Bert Newton and Graham Kennedy and they both appeared regularly on his show.
    His wife remained his agent until he died even though they were divorced.
    He performed at a benefit concert for the victims cyclone Tracy (1974).
