Biblical Character

The Resume

Appears in the First Book of Samuel in the Old Testament
Medium consulted by King Saul of Israel to summon the prophet Samuel to give him the outcome of a key battle against the Philistines
Told Saul that he and three of his sons would all die the next day

Why she might be annoying:

She is often depicted with bare breasts.
She practiced witchcraft even though Saul had banned it. (Not that Saul was above consulting her himself).
She may have been a clever ventriloquist rather than a true seer.
Her apparent ability to contact the dead (in contradiction of Old Testament scripture) has confounded theologians for years.

Why she might not be annoying:

She was very reluctant to summon Samuel's ghost but was too frightened to disobey the king.
She felt sorry for Saul who collapsed after her prophecy and tried to comfort him.
She somehow escaped God's wrath despite practicing a strictly forbidden art.
Samantha's mother from Bewitched and the baby witch from Passions are both named 'Endora.'
