The Resume

Why American Idol 11 - 2012 might be annoying:

Top 13 finalist Jermaine Jones was disqualified due to allegations of concealing arrests and outstanding warrants.
Some television critics accused the producers of 'staging' Jones's expulsion during the competition in a blatant attempt to boost sagging ratings.
Several media watchdog groups blasted the show for airing judge Jennifer Lopez's music video for her song 'Dance Again' because of its risque and sexual nature.
Various viewers and critics complained that the selection of winner Phillip Phillips was evidence that 'Idol' voters had a bias of crowning winners that are 'white guys with guitars' (WGWG).
After a slight rebound in 2011, this edition produced the lowest ratings for the show since the first season.
After seven years at the top, it lost its crown to NBC's 'Sunday Night Football' as American television's most watched program of the season.
This season also marked the first time that 'Idol' failed to earn an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Reality Competition Program.

Why American Idol 11 - 2012 might not be annoying:

Singers such Mary J. Blige and Stevie Nicks served as mentors to the contestants in some weeks.
Fashion designer Tommy Hilfiger served as an 'image consultant' for the contestants' wardrobes.
During the first week of the Top 13 round, female finalists performed songs originally recorded by Whitney Houston who died almost a month before.
All three judges decided to 'save' Jessica Sanchez from elimination in the Top 7 because they felt her performance was too strong and powerful to be considered for such an early exit.
Aerosmith's Joe Perry and the finalists sang 'Happy Birthday to You' to judge and bandmate Steven Tyler in one round.
Phillips's victory single 'Home' charted well in the Billboard Hot 100 thanks to being used during NBC's coverage of the 2012 London Summer Olympics.
This was Tyler and Lopez's final season of judging 'Idol.'
