Hockey Player

The Resume

Why he might be annoying:

He bounced around between the NHL and the minor leagues prior to landing in Vancouver.
He is best remembered for a violent stick swinging incident in which he nearly killed Ted Green, causing the latter a brain injury and a fractured skull in the process (September 21, 1969).
He was suspended for 13 games as a result of the incident.
He became one of the first NHL players to be charged with assault over an on-ice altercation; the charges would later be dropped.
Despite his #11 being out of circulation for the Canucks for the majority of the franchise's history, it has yet to be officially retired by the team as of 2020.

Why he might not be annoying:

He was a member of the inaugural Vancouver Canucks roster (1970-71).
He led the Canucks in scoring during his two full seasons with the club.
He is considered one of the first star players in the history of the Canucks franchise.
His #11 was taken out of circulation by the Canucks following his death.
His family protested the team's decision to reissue it to Mark Messier, as they did it without their consent.
