Baseball Player
    (October 9, 1940- )
First Baseman for NY Yankees (1962-69), Houston Astros (1970), Chicago Cubs (1970-73) and Atlanta Braves (1973)
Famed for being the first male athlete to pack a hair dryer and hair spray in his travelling luggage.
He took a lot of ribbing about always trying to keep his hair in place and may have inspired John Travolta's character in 'Saturday Night Fever.'
He tried to capitalize on sports fame with a restaurant in Chicago called 'Joe Pepitone's The Thing.'
He hated playing for the Houston Astros.
Only one season he hit over .280.
He hawks Yankee stuff on QVC.
He still holds the N.Y. Yankee first baseman record for best fielding average.
Although he admits he would rather play today because of the incredible salaries, he does say that today's players are missing out on the comradery and family like atmosphere of the teams he played on.
