Internet Personality

The Resume

    Resides in Atlanta, Georgia
    Former marketing executive
Gained social media notoriety for posting a picture of himself with a coworker's very young child (Cayden Jenkins) on his Facebook profile (September 16, 2015) then making inappropriate comments based on his race
The screengrab of the posting, plus the comments, went viral
Fired from Polaris Marketing Group on September 29, 2015
Story of the incident covered by 'People' and 'Cosmopolitan' web sites

Why he might be annoying:

His Facebook profile name was 'Geris Hilton.'
He committed the social media no-no of posting a pic of a child without the parent's consent.
His friends made crude comments referring to slavery, famine relief and even the 'Roots' novel.
He commented that Cayden was 'feral.'
He probably felt that no one outside his Friends list would see the post or the comments.
His post and comments forced Cayden's mother Sydney Shelton out of hiding explaining that Cayden is a happy loved boy, then publicly sharing tender personal photos of him in happy boy mode.
During the public firestorm, he claimed that he told his friends to stop making inappropriate comments, yet the screengrab showed no postings of such requests.
He also claimed that the thread was edited in the screen grab to remove those requests.

Why he might not be annoying:

The comments he and his friends made led to job firings, his as well as some of the friends.
A friend of his (who is black) told one media outlet that Gerod's intentions were harmless and that he was a victim of a joke gone wrong.
His story serves as yet another cautionary tale of how one must be careful what he or she uploads and comments in social media. (Right, Adam Smith and Alexandra Wallace?)
He wrote a long apology post on his page and added a picture of his holding a long strip over his eyes with 'HisNameisCayden' printed on it proceeded by a hashtag.
Cayden and his mother received a massive outpouring of support after the incident.
He apologized to the mother, but she doubted his sincerity.
The masses who supported the mother and son fell in love with the cute boy.
