    Resident of Bar Harbor, Florida
    Plastic surgeon
Wrote the children's book 'My Beautiful Mommy' to explain plastic surgery to children, ages 4 to 7
The 'Dr. Michael' of the book has the muscles and chiseled jawline of a comic book superhero.
Dr. Richard D'Amico, President of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, said of the Barbie-like mother in the book, 'I would have liked it much better if mommy looked like a real person.'
Mommy explains that her nose job will make her 'Not just different, my dear, but prettier!'
He claims the book is meant to inform, but there is no mention of breast enhancement surgery even though mommy's boobs become noticeably perkier.
His book is the perfect gift for the young girl with everything except severe body image issues.
He said, 'It sounds like a joke, but there really is a need to address this issue.'
He said that parents 'just try to ignore the kids' questions completely. But kids fill in the blanks with their imagination.'
He says the book is intended for parents who have already decided on surgery and 'It wasn't meant to be read as a children's bedtime tale like Goodnight Moon.'
