    (February 4, 1908-February 5, 1959)
    Died in Venice, California
Committed suicide by self-immolation at 51
Appeared in 'Roar of the Dragon (1932)' and 'No Other Woman (1933)'
Her Hollywood film career flopped despite a publicity blitz by studio head David O. Selznick.
She became a drunk when film roles dried up.
    She was divorced.
One day after her 51st birthday, Gwili surrounded herself with various pictures and press clippings of her once-promising career. She set them on fire, allowing the flames to consume her.
She was billed as 'America's Most Beautiful Model.'
Possessing striking beauty and European exoticism, she hoped to follow in Marlene Dietrich's footsteps as a Hollywood femme fatale.
Her life and death are viewed as cautionary tales of a fading star's inability to cope with unfulfilled dreams.
