The Resume

    (January 31, 1928-April 10, 1958)
    Born in Atlanta, Georgia
    Birth name was Harold Willis
Recorded the singles 'My Story' (1952), 'I Feel So Bad' (1954), 'It's Too Late' (1956), 'C.C. Rider' (1957), 'Betty and Dupree' (1957) and 'What Am I Living For?' (1958)
Died while undergoing surgery for peritonitis caused by a perforated ulcer

Why he might be annoying:

He usually wore a turban to hide his receding hairline.
He was nicknamed 'The King of the Stroll' even though 'The Stroll' itself was a hit for the band The Diamonds.
His last single released before his death, eerily enough, was titled 'What Am I Living For?'

Why he might not be annoying:

The day he died, Dick Clark dedicated that afternoon's episode of American Bandstand to him.
'What Am I Living For' became Billboard's top R&B hit of 1958.
He wrote many of his hits, including 'I Feel So Bad' (covered by Elvis Presley), 'Oh What A Dream' (covered by Ruth Brown and Conway Twitty) and 'It's Too Late' (covered by Buddy Holly, Otis Redding and Eric Clapton with Derek & the Dominos).
His nomination for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (2010) declared that he 'influenced every generation from Elvis Presley to Kanye West.'
