Why she might be annoying:

    In her teens, she aspired to become a pro golfer.
    Growing up stateside, she attested to knowing ‘less than zero’ about the Whoniverse (highlighted by her agent unwittingly hanging up on her when he laughed at her question: ‘What’s a TARDIS?’).
    When her parents were required to return to Japan, still in her teens, she chose to remain in London alone.
    The first season of ‘Torchwood,’ she appeared to be little more than pitiful comic relief. The second season, she was a serious player… and then, ‘Tosh’ died.
    She does not have a high opinion of (paper) shredders.

Why she might not be annoying:

    A Japanese exile to the UK? Less surprising than it appears.
    She spent nearly a decade in a recurring AbFab role as Saffy’s batty braided friend.
    She would meet future ‘Torchwood’ co-star John Barrowman on the set of the London (West End) stage version of ‘Miss Saigon.’
    Except for the iPhone, she is a fan of Apple technology (‘I’m Japanese, I’m a gadget freak — I like anything with buttons’).
    This tweet: ‘Has [she] lived in the U.S. at all? Her American accent on Private Practice is excellent!’ (Yes! The family lived in New Jersey first, years before settling in the UK.)
