First African-American Playmate for Playboy Magazine (March 1965)
In using her as their first black centerfold, Playboy Magazine played it safe because she was light-skinned.
She pretty much disappeared after the layout, despite making history.
She is sometimes confused with Jennifer Lyn Jackson, a white playmate (April 1989).
She decided to continue with her college education and become a social worker.
In her own way, she was a civil rights activist.
Hugh Hefner discarded the hate mail that he received from bigots who didn't want a black woman in the magazine.
She has a twin sister named Janis.
She also worked in the Playboy clubs as a bunny.
She was the first African-American woman to be featured in Playboy magazine.
She leads a quiet life as a mother, grandmother and social worker.
