    He admitted to trying to influence a Tennessee Volkswagen plant's vote against Union representation (2013).
    His rise to political seniority came in the wake of Foreign Relations Chair, Bob Menendez resigning from public office in disgrace.
    He crafted the widely criticized Iran Nuclear Deal, which his opponents argue put the world at greater risk for nuclear war (Apr. 2015).
    He sought to ramp up the NSA's spying program, defending his position by saying 'Americans should be less concerned about privacy.'
    He received negative attention on Twitter after a heated argument with Ted Cruz on the Senate floor led a Republican Think-Tank to suggest he might be 'becoming a Democrat.'

    He drew attention to Egyptian militants smuggling supplies to Gaza through tunnels near the Israeli border, surprising even Bibi Netanyahu with his investigating.
    He was taken out of context during a Meet the Press interview when he stated that killing civilians with chemical weapons was 'the wisest thing [Bashar al] Assad did' (Apr. 2014) .
    He called for the removal of the Confederate Flag from South Carolina's government buildings in the aftermath of the Charleston Shootings (Jun. 2015).
