Why she might be annoying:

Her dainty, overly feminine, country-hick style clothing designs in the 80’s clashed with the decade’s excessive-styled, neon-colored, hard-edged look.
Born as Laura Mountney, she took her husband’s surname Ashley to make her brand more appealing to her target market: women.
Her stockbroker husband quit his job to support her growing company.

Why she might not be annoying:

The English country home style look, complete with floral patterns and pastels, was the trademark of her designs.
She initially designed scarves, tea towels and napkins.
At 60, she fell down a flight of stairs and died after spending nine days in a coma.
Her popularity grew during the 70’s and, by the mid-80’s, she had 5000 stores worldwide.
Audrey Hepburn favored her designs.
Her clothing line and other products now sport a modern and more current look in the league of today’s mainstream styles.
Her namesake foundation is committed to support aspiring Welsh artists and designers.
