    55th Governor of Missouri (elected 2008)

Why he might be annoying:

    He ran unsuccessfully for the United States Senate in 1988 and 1998.
    Republicans in the state have criticized him for his campaign soliciting campaign contributions from utility companies.
    He has overseen the state's involvement in the court settlements that ended mandatory urban busing in St. Louis and Kansas City's public schools.
    This sparked outrage within the African American community because many families desired to place their children in high quality public schools.
    He strongly favors the death penalty.

Why he might not be annoying:

    One of his ancestors was the Mayor of Philadelphia, and another one was a senator for Louisiana.
    He helped launch Missouri's No Call List prohibiting telemarketers from dialing certain households without consent.
    He is a strong opponent of super political action committees (superPACs).
    In 2010, he received the Distinguished Eagle Scout Award.
    Despite being a Democrat, he is moderate on several core issues.
