Prime Minister of India (May 22, 2004- )
He has degrees from both Oxford AND Cambridge. University snob!
There was a massive controversy regarding corruption during his tenure as Minister of Finance (1993).
He held other offices whilst he was Prime Minister of India, such as the Minister of finance (2008-09).
Having undergone several cardiac bypasses and with his age, it may not be the best idea for him to be re-elected for a second term.
He was not directly involved in the 1993 scandal.
He offered his resignation for the 1993 scandal, which was rejected.
He has been key in bringing India as a player on an international scale.
He has a very peaceful foreign policy, improving relations with China and Afghanistan and even Pakistan.
He's one of the most liked and popular ministers, described as 'the leader other leaders love' by Newsweek Magazine.
He is listed as one of the 100 Most Influential People in the World by TIME Magazine. (2010)
He is trying to improve literacy in Indian rural areas and improve the lives of India's poverty-stricken farmers.
He is supposedly a very kind, modest man, choosing to still drive a Maruti rather than a flashy car.
He is a Sikh Prime Minister in a country that's more than 80% Hindu - a symbol of India's secularism and evidence against the religious strife and division present in India.
He is the first Prime Minister since Nehru to have been re-elected into office a second time after completing one full term.
