Oddity
    (October 23, 1969- )
Center of the 'Columbus Poltergeist' case (1984)
Subject of the book 'Unleashed -- Of Poltergeists and Murder: The Curious Case of Tina Resch'
Her teachers complained about her disruptive behavior and verbal abuse so that she had to be home schooled after age 12.
The iconic pictures of Tina with a phone flying in front of her could be taken only after the photographer first deliberately looked away from her.
A video camera accidentally left on by a TV crew caught her physically knocking over a lamp, after first checking over her shoulder to see if anyone was watching her.
To avoid a possible death penalty, she pleaded guilty to murdering her three-year-old daughter Amber (1994).
Twice in the week before Amber's death, she had decided not to take her daughter to the hospital upon discovering bruises on Amber after her boyfriend had babysat.
Parapsychologists studying her alleged psychic abilities took her to a neurologist who found evidence that she might have Tourette's syndrome, which could have caused her disruptive behavior.
She may have been sexually molested by her brother.
She said she knocked over the lamp out of desperation when it became clear that the TV reporters would not leave the house until something 'supernatural' happened.
She had two husbands that were physically abusive.
Before entering her guilty plea, she had passed a polygraph exam while claiming innocence.
Plenty of evidence indicated that her boyfriend, David Herrin, had been the person directly responsible for Amber's death.
Herrin decided to go to trial instead of plea bargaining and ended up with a lighter sentence (20 years vs. Tina's life without parole).
