They are a band with an individual’s name.
Their first two albums are both eponymously titled. (C’mon, show some imagination, guys!)
Lead singer Forchhammer was a former child actor.
After signing to a division of Universal Music, the label suggested they film some ‘non-corporate-looking material’ and post it online to create some buzz.
Forchhammer noted, ‘The media made up this nice story about us being an unsigned group that put a video on YouTube, but that's not how it happened. Everyone needs a fucking story, right?’
USA Today wrote that their songs ‘effortlessly blend elements of hip-hop and folk.’
Their hit ‘7 Years’ was inspired by the death of Forchhammer’s father: ‘He was my biggest fan and biggest motivational force.’
Forchhammer said, ‘Musicians are not better people than anybody else. We’re not more honor-worthy. Quite the contrary – we drink more, we smoke more, we sleep less, we travel all the time, we don’t see our families.’
They replaced cringe-worthy novelty act Aqua as the most successful Danish band in America.
