    (circa 1999- )
    Born in Beijing, China
Performed 'Ode to the Motherland' during the opening ceremonies of the Beijing Olympics (August 8, 2008)
She was actually lip-synching to the voice of seven-year-old Yang Peiyi.
Despite winning a singing competition, Peiyi was considered 'not suitable' for the ceremonies because she had crooked baby teeth.
Music director Chen Qigang claimed, 'It was fair both for Lin Miaoke and Yang Peiyi. We combined the perfect voice and the perfect performance.'
People trying to justify the deception pointed out that Luciano Pavarotti lip-synched during the 2006 Winter Games in Torino, ignoring that Pavarotti's own voice was still being used.
She had nothing to do with the switch, which was ordered at the last minute by a member of the Chinese politburo.
Chen Qigang publicized Peiyi's role because, 'The little girl is a magnificent singer. She doesn't deserve to be hidden.'
Chinese policy expert Andrew Nathan commented, 'I really don't know how a little girl in China might respond to being told your teeth are not good enough. But doesn't that happen all the time in Hollywood?'
