    He voted against providing famine relief to countries in Africa.
    He filed a brief with the Supreme Court advocating the mandatory teaching of creationism in schools.
    He lost a reelection campaign to Cooter from The Dukes of Hazard.
    He was caught on tape by an undercover IRS agent agreeing to an $850,000 loan using laundered money from a Colombian drug cartel.
    He was eventually convicted on six counts of perjury as a result, and spent a year in jail (1994-95).
    He insisted that the case against him was politically motivated, even though the prosecutor, Bob Barr, was a fellow Republican and a Reagan appointee.
    He was disbarred as an attorney by the Georgia Supreme Court (1996).
    He was sentenced to one year of probation after pleading guilty to making illegal campaign contributions to an Atlanta city council member (2011).

    He served as the prison librarian.
    He won $327,000 in a lawsuit against Fulton County, Georgia, over a rent dispute (2012).
