U.S. Governor
    (January 20, 1972- )
    Born in Bamberg, South Carolina
Republican Governor of South Carolina, elected November 2, 2010
Served in the South Carolina House of Representatives (2005-10)
    Birth name was Nimrata Randhawa
She's proud to be part of the Tea Party movement.
She's Indian, but, created a stir by listing her race as 'white' on her voter registration form.
During a heated GOP Gubernatorial primary, allegations of two extra marital affairs surfaced.
She supported the flying of the Confederate Flag near the South Carolina Statehouse.
Democrats and Republicans alike describe her governing style as 'adversarial.'
She graduated Clemson with an accounting degree.
She started working for her family's business when she was just 13 years old.
She was the first woman to be elected Governor of South Carolina.
She doesn't make an issue of her race, though, the combination of her race, gender and youth earned her the distinction of being considered a 'rising GOP star.'
In her first year as Governor, she vetoed several bills passed by the GOP controlled state legislature because she disagreed with the amount of money being spent (some of those vetoes were later overridden by GOP lawmakers); an example of how she stood by her Tea Party principles.
