    Inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame (1974)
    #76 retired by the Browns
    Namesake for the Lou Groza Award for best college placekicker
    Nicknamed 'The Toe'
    He used a special tee and long strip of tape to line up kicks until the NFL adopted the 'Lou Groza rule' banning artificial aids for kickers (1956).
    He missed the 1960 season with a back injury; when he returned, it was solely as a kicker.
    He compared the Browns moving to Baltimore to 'some man walking off with your wife.'
    He served in a medical unit during the Battle of Okinawa.
    He led the NFL in field goals a record five seasons.
    He was the last of the original Browns to retire.
    Quarterback Otto Graham said, 'Pressure didn't bother him at all. We always felt if we got within 40 or 50 yards of the goal post he could make it.'
