Created by the 'Easter Uprising' during World War I (April 1916)
Advocates a unified Irish state without ties to the United Kingdom

Why Irish Republican Army might be annoying:

There are several organizations in Ireland claiming to be the true Irish Republican Army, making it very confusing.
They claim to be popular with the Irish people, yet most Irish nationalist newspapers have called for the execution of their leaders.
They are often counter-productive to their own cause of Irish independence, creating hatred instead of sympathy.
They bought their explosives and weapons from Middle Eastern terrorist organizations.
    They kill indiscriminately.
They created the use of the car bomb.
They wish to deliver vengeance for past crimes the British Empire committed during colonial rule.
They bombed English cities during World War II.
They issued a cessation of their terrorist operations, yet refuse to surrender their arms.
Some of the organizations adopted a Marxist philosophy in the 1970's.
Since the 1960's, they are responsible for murdering 1,800 people, 650 of them being innocent civilians.
They started a bombing spree in downtown Belfast in which 22 bombs detonated in 75 minutes, killing nine and injuring hundreds (Bloody Friday, July 1972).
They assassinated Lord Mountbatten, Queen Elizabeth's uncle.
They detonated a car bomb in a London district that killed one person and caused $1 billion in damages (1993).
They launched mortars on 10 Downing Street in an assassination attempt.

Why Irish Republican Army might not be annoying:

They fight other Protestant terrorist organizations in Northern Ireland who kill innocent Catholics.
They are often imprisoned without any jury decision after a lengthy torture session.
Ten of them, lead by Bobby Sands, died in prison during a hunger strike (1981).
Some of the Irish Republican Army organizations have apologized for the violence and are no longer considered terrorist groups.
