    Blues and boogie-woogie pianist
    Songs included ‘Bear Trap Blues,’ ‘Five O’Clock Blues,’ ‘How Long Blues,’ ‘Yancey’s Bugle Call’ and ‘Yancey Stomp’
    Inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as an early influence (1986)
    His birth year has also been given as 1894 and 1901.
    He was a tap dancer in vaudeville at age 10.
    He called his wife ‘Mama.’
    He did not cut any records until late in his career.
    He never earned enough from music to quit his day job as a groundskeeper for the Chicago White Sox.
    When he was 15, he danced in a command performance for King George V.
    He played baseball with the Chicago All-Americans of the Negro League.
    He was a self-taught pianist.
    He and Mama Yancey played Carnegie Hall (1948).
    He was a member of the inaugural class of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
