Why she might be annoying
She was motivated to explore photography mainly due to the influence and encouragement of photographer Edward Weston and her husband, Willard Morgan.
After her artist training at UCLA, she later focused on photography to allow more time to raise her family.
She stated that she was unaware of certain life issues or world views which would influence her art or photography until she experienced them for herself.
During her career, she photographed subjects mostly in black and white.
Why she might not be annoying
Her career transformed from traditional photography to more energetic modern photography, which made her famous.
After moving to New York, she photographed Martha Graham's dancers for five years and published a book about the experience.
She carefully studied and focused on her subjects before photographing them.
The theme throughout her most famous work was movement and energy.
Though best known for her dance focus, her artwork and photography explored a variety of multicultural themes and subjects.
Her photography career lasted over 70 years, and among her achievements were co- founding Aperture magazine as well as receiving photography awards and a National Endowment for the Arts grant.
