Why he might be annoying:

His name looks like it should be pronounced 'Fo-calt,' but is read as 'Foo-co.'
He believed that a people were constructed by their society (i.e. who you are is entirely dependant on where you are).
He was one of the founders of the post modern movement.
He never presented his arguments.

He suffered from depression.

Why he might not be annoying:

His earliest childhood memory was witnessing the assassination of Austrian Chancellor Dollfus.
After the news of Joseph Stalin's mad purges reached France, he left the communist party.
He said: 'I think that before 1968, at least in France, you had to be as a philosopher a Marxist, or a phenomenologist, or a structuralist, and I adhered to none of these dogmas.'
He was HIV positive and died from AIDS related illness.
He did not attempt to hide his homosexuality.
