    Directed productions of Chekhov's 'Uncle Vanya,' Ibsen's 'The Master Builder,' and Wallace Shawn's 'Our Late Night,' 'The Designated Mourner,' and 'Grasses of a Thousand Colors'
    Subject of the documentary 'Andre Gregory: Before and After Dinner' (2013)
    He tried to stage a play based on Antoine de Saint Exupery's 'The Little Prince' in the Sahara Desert.
    He became a follower of New Agey beliefs that he described as 'a training program to learn how to be a human being.'
    He was buried alive for a performance art piece.
    He said of his frequent collaborations with Wallace Shawn, 'We're becoming the Abbott and Costello of the avant-garde.'
    Early in his career, Martha Graham told him, 'You know, darling, you have no talent at all -- but one day you may be a great artist, because you have a huge heart.'
    He established repertory theaters in Seattle, Philadelphia, and Manhattan.
    He won OBIE and Drama Desk Awards for directing an avant-garde adaptation of 'Alice in Wonderland' (1970)
    NPR described him as 'an instinctually seductive raconteur.'
