    He turned down a job with Disney when he was a teenager.
    He turned down an offer to play baseball with the New York Giants.
    His work has defined the look of Sword and Sorcery artwork for decades.
    He was supporting himself and his family with his artwork when he was sixteen.
    His drawings of characters such as Tarzan and Conan the Barbarian are virtually icons in the comics industry.
    When he was young, he played baseball, lifted weights, drove a Harley-Davidson and in general was the exact opposite of the stereotypical comic book artist.
