    (July 12, 1905-January 18, 1919)
    Born in Norfolk, United Kingdom
Son of King George V and uncle of Queen Elizabeth II
Suffered from severe epilepsy from age four
Also had learning disabilities possibly related to autism
    Died following a seizure
He was often referred to as a ‘monster boy’ by contemporaries.
    He enjoyed playing practical jokes.
He was excited when he spotted German zeppelins during World War I.
The TV movie about his life ‘The Lost Prince’ (2003) angered the current royal family.
The Windsors now avoid using the name ‘John,’ believing it unlucky.
His parents, embarrassed by his seizures, sent him away to live in the country.
He was not present at his father’s coronation.
Treatment of his epilepsy amounted to little more than hot mustard baths.
He was easy going and well liked by his caretakers.
He was rarely mentioned by the royal family after his death.
