    She had turned down Theodore Roosevelt's proposals a number of times. He then married Alice, and after becoming a widower, he asked her again to marry him. She accepted.
    She believed men were superior to women.
    She named some of her kids Kermit, Archibald and Quentin.
    She was not well liked by her stepdaughter Alice Roosevelt Longworth.
    She actively campaigned against Franklin Roosevelt's presidential bid.
    She urged President Theodore Roosevelt to run for a third term but he declined (1908).
    She attended Miss Comstock's School.
    She loved to read Shakespeare and poetry.
    She had the ability to name different types of flowers.
    She was the opposite of President Theodore Roosevelt's boisterous personality being calm and staid.

    She changed the name of the Executive Mansion officially to the White House.
    She made the second floor of the White House a private family area.
