    Before joining the Army, his free throwing was mediocre.
    His sore arm cut his baseball career short, as he was a pitcher for a minor league team for the New York Yankees.
    He missed most of the 1960-61 season because of his injured back.
    He went to the NBA Finals with the Knicks and lost to the Minneapolis Lakers in 5 games in his first season back from the Army (1953).
    His coaching career was a disappointment as his overall record was 40-87.
    He was considered as the first superstar of the Knicks.
    He earned an NBA championship ring with the Celtics in his final NBA season with them.
    He spent time in the Army for two years.
    He left the Knicks with 10,449 points.
    He was the two time NBA leader in games played (1956 and 1958).
    He used to work as a Wall Street stock broker.
    He was married to his wife Joan for over 50 years until his death.
