    His son is Rob Reiner.
    He was the straight man to Mel Brooks.
    He was never really as popular as his partner in comedy was.
    He was originally supposed to play Rob Petrie on what eventually became The Dick Van Dyke Show, but network executives weren't impressed by his performance in the pilot.

    He's succeeded in comedy, acting, writing and directing.
