What's up with that goofy nickname?
His name causes some confusion with African-American actor Keith David.
He has been cast in far too many military roles.
He has several failed TV series to his credit, including 'Co-ed Fever (1979),' 'Flesh 'n' Blood (1991),' 'Local Heroes (1996),' 'High Incident (1996-97)' and 'Still Life (2005),' which was filmed by FOX but never shown.
He composed and sang the themes for 'Flesh 'n' Blood' and 'Local Heroes' (maybe that's why they failed).
He also composed music as well as co-stared with Pamela Anderson in the box office bomb 'Raw Justice (1994).'
He graduated University of Tennessee, earning a degree in speech and theater.
His first acting role was framing Richie Cunningham in a college election on 'Happy Days' (1978).
In 1983 he was nominated for 2 Golden Globe Awards, 'Best Actor in a Supporting Role - Motion Picture' and 'New Star of the Year in a Motion Picture - Male,' for his work in 'An Officer and a Gentleman.'
He was able to portray his boyhood hero, Elvis Presley, in 'Heartbreak Hotel (1988).'
He has appeared in country music videos with Reba McEntire, Patty Loveless and Ricky Skaggs.
He bought and maintains his own cattle ranch in Tellico Plains, Tennessee.
