Why Liverpool, England might be annoying:

A local food is 'Scouse,' which is a meat and vegetable stew.
The RMS Titanic was registered to Liverpool.
It is the European city of culture for 2008.
Their accent is difficult to understand.
They named an airport after a pop star (John Lennon airport).
They supplied the Confederates with a battleship in the American civil war.
They are famous for their Mersey Ferries, but most use the Mersey tunnel to cross the river.
Their Liverpool vs. Everton soccer derby often splits the city in two.
The primary pastimes of the city are soccer and drinking.
Most foreigners only know the city as 'home of the Beatles.'
It is Shanghai, China's sister city.

Why Liverpool, England might not be annoying:

It is the city that gave birth to Gerry & the Pacemakers, The Beatles, Clive Barker, Elvis Costello, Tom Baker and Cilla Black.
They were heavily bombed during WW II, yet kept their docks and ship yards running to support the allies.
It is the only city with 2 cathedrals.
They have many fine historical buildings such as The Liver building (first concrete and steel construction), Saint Georges hall and The Royal Liverpool museum.
In the 60's it was the center of the world's music and fashion.
Prior to air traffic, it was the world's leading dock city.
It is home to the worlds first overhead railway, steam passenger train, district nurse, children's hospital, child welfare association and under water tunnel.
It has many immigrants (especially Irish).
The city has it's own edition of Monopoly.
It turns 800 in 2007.
