    (August 6, 1919-May 10, 2006)
Born in New York, New York
    Abortion rights activist
Founded the National Abortion Rights Action League (now known as NARAL Pro-Choice America) with Bernard Nathanson
Called the 'Father of abortion rights' by Betty Friedan
    Havard graduate, Class of 1941
He called himself an abortifier, which he defined 'as those who like abortion,' and once famously said 'Abortion is central to everything in life and how we want to live it.'
He was intolerant of people who disagreed with him and once sued the IRS (unsuccessfully) to remove the tax exempt status of the Catholic Church and other religions who preached against abortion.
He wrote a glowing biography of eugenicist <4898>Margaret Sanger<4898>, skipping over her racist views.
He admitted the 'fabrication of statistics and figures' to support the legalization of abortion.
He once said 'Billy Graham and the Pope are running the country.'
He was very bright and argued his case for abortion well. His 1966 book, 'Abortion,' was cited eight times in the Supreme Court's 'Roe vs Wade' decision, unheard of for a non-legal document.
He served honorably in the American Army during WWII, sending articles he wrote home for publication in magazines.
He had a nice smile and was a snappy dresser.
He had an outstanding career as a magazine writer, being published with great regularity in; Look, Life, Reader's Digest, and The Saturday Evening Post, among others.
He was married to his second wife for 45 years and insisted she keep her finances separate from his so she could maintain her independence.
