Recorded the solo albums ‘Playin’ Possum’ (1981), ‘Life in Exile after Abdication’ (1989), ‘I Spent a Week There the Other Night’ (1991) and ‘Dogs Under Stress’ (1994)

She was invited to join the Velvets in large part because they needed an amplifier and she owned one.
Her drumming is frequently described as ‘unconventional’ or ‘minimalist.’ (Translation: ‘She’s no Buddy Rich.’)
She dropped out of the music biz for extended periods several times.
She appeared at a Tea Party rally and said, ‘I have come to believe – not just wonder – that Obama’s plan is to destroy America from within.’

She was a self-taught drummer.
She was inspired by Babatunde Olatunji and Bo Diddley.
After her drums were stolen following an early Velvets gig, she filled in by playing on garbage cans and their lids fetched from an alley behind the club.
Robert Christgau said, ‘She is where the punk notion of how the beat works begins.’
She was working at Wal-Mart for minimum wage when Half Japanese asked her to tour Europe with them and Penn Jillette invited her to record for the independent label he ran (1989).
She said about her Tea Party affiliation, ‘Anyone who knows me knows I am not a fool, a racist, a Nazi.’
